Nathan Smith, the son of Grammy-winning artist Lil Jon, died from drowning in a pond near his Milton home while under the influence of psilocybin. The Fulton County Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death as accidental.
The body was recovered on February 6 by divers with the Cherokee County Fire Department after a multi-agency search that began when Smith was reported missing on February 3. According to police, Smith left his home under unusual circumstances and may have been disoriented. The medical examiner's report indicated that psilocybin, a hallucinogenic compound found in mushrooms, was present in his system at the time of death.
Milton Police Department stated there was no indication of foul play and confirmed the investigation is ongoing to thoroughly examine all leads. The family expressed their devastation over the loss, describing Nathan as a kind-hearted individual who was immensely caring, thoughtful, polite, passionate, and warmhearted. He was also an accomplished music producer, artist, and engineer.
