Clockwork Caravan privacy policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
NewsBalance publishes Clockwork Caravan. This policy explains information handled by the game and by the services it uses. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@newsbalance.ai.
The current mobile beta uses Google test advertisements. Production advertising is being prepared; this policy also describes the Google rewarded-ad integration intended for that release. Availability can differ between builds.
Play without an account
The game does not require a player account, name, email address, or date of birth. Progress, settings, and privacy choices are saved on your device. Normal gameplay, standard rewards, and 1×/2× speed do not require watching ads or sharing playtest data.
The game does not provide account-based cloud saves. Your device or operating system may separately back up app data according to your device settings.
Age choices and younger players
Clockwork Caravan is designed for teens and adults. You can choose an age range: under 13, 13–15, 16–17, or 18 and older. You may also decline to provide one and continue playing. The game stores this coarse choice locally, not a birth date or exact age.
If no age range is provided, or the selected range is under 13, the game does not initialize its advertising SDKs or request ads, and playtest sharing is disabled. For teens, the game applies Google's teen ad treatment and conservative under-age-of-consent settings. It sends protective treatment flags to Google, rather than your exact age or birth date. Teen players cannot enable playtest sharing.
You can change your choice in Menu → Privacy & ads → Update age range. A later change stops further activity that is no longer allowed; it does not recall information already sent.
Optional rewarded advertisements
Google AdMob supplies optional rewarded advertisements. The current configuration requests nonpersonalized ads. Nonpersonalized does not mean no data is processed: Google may receive your IP address, device and app information, app-scoped identifiers, ad views and interactions, and diagnostic or performance information. An IP address can reveal an approximate location. This information supports ad delivery, measurement, security, and fraud prevention.
Google's User Messaging Platform checks applicable regional consent requirements before ads can load and presents a privacy message when required. You can revisit available choices through Menu → Privacy & ads → Ad privacy choices. If permission or eligibility is unavailable, ads remain unavailable. Choosing an age range alone does not authorize an ad request.
The game does not request Apple App Tracking Transparency permission. Our current iOS configuration does not obtain the IDFA advertising identifier. Google can still process the other information described above. Learn more in Google's privacy policy and its Mobile Ads data disclosure.
Optional adult playtest sharing
Adults can separately opt in to playtest sharing to help us understand game balance and technical problems. This is off unless enabled. Sharing sends PostHog gameplay and progression events such as playtime, routes, wins and losses, tower choices, resource changes, and basic rewarded-ad outcomes. Events include timestamps, app/build version, platform, and a randomly generated installation identifier.
These events do not include your name, email, age-range choice, birth date, advertising identifier, or free-form messages. They are pseudonymous, rather than a named player profile. We do not link TestFlight email addresses to these events.
Requests necessarily expose an IP address to the receiving service. The game explicitly disables IP storage and location enrichment in the analytics event payload and does not request PostHog person profiles. The current project uses PostHog's US service; information may therefore be processed outside your country. See PostHog's privacy policy.
Change this choice through Menu → Privacy & ads → Playtest sharing. Turning it off stops collection and uploads and clears unsent queued events and the local analytics identifier. It does not delete events already delivered to PostHog. Requests already received cannot be recalled.
Storage, retention, and deletion requests
Local saves and settings remain on your device until removed. The optional analytics queue holds at most 1,000 events within a 2 MB limit; accepted uploads are removed from that queue. Clearing app data or deleting the app may remove local progress permanently. Device backups may retain copies separately.
The game does not enforce an automatic deletion period for analytics already uploaded to PostHog. A reporting window, such as a 30-day dashboard, is not a deletion schedule. Google retains advertising information under its own policies and controls.
To ask about access, correction, deletion, or other rights available where you live, contact privacy@newsbalance.ai. Explain that your request concerns Clockwork Caravan. Because we do not have player accounts or associate names with playtest identifiers, we may need additional information to locate relevant records and may be unable to identify them from an email address alone. Do not send your birth date, passwords, or other unnecessary sensitive information.
